As the kids would say: my skin is clear, my hair is glowing, my problems are solved. Why? Oh,
because of the underrated star of every healthy diet: WATER. While genetics do play a very important part in this scenario, everything we ingest will also have great impact on how we look and how our body works. Bad eating habits often lead not only to weight gain, but to bad skin, lack of energy and a whole lot of diseases, and not drinking enough water is a terrible, terrible habit.
But what difference can something so simple do? Well, let’s start with the basics: the human body is made of mostly water and thus needs the right amount of it to work properly. Here are some proven benefits of drinking water:
– It increases satiety, which results in weight loss;
– It boosts skin health;
– It enhances the performance during exercise;
– We need it in order to eliminate body waste;
– It lubricates muscles and joints;
– Minerals and nutrients reach different parts of our body because they dissolve in water.
And the list goes on! With Summer just around the corner, it’s even more important that we drink
enough water to make up for the extra fluids we lose because of the hot temperatures. As for the right amount, the common 8×8 rule (meaning one should drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day) still applies. You can also divide your body weight (pounds) in half, and the amount of ounces you get is the right one for you.
There may not be a magic potion, but there’s always water – and it can do wonders!
