First, if you still believe that not eating breakfast is a good way to lower your calorie consumption, that train left long ago and you need to get off it. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. As your first meal, it sets up how the rest of your day will go. Unfortunately, that leaves you with the problem of what to do about breakfast meal prep every day of the week.

Meal prep is a great way to avoid having to make something every day. Instead, you can make meals for the week in bulk and have a quick start to your day by popping one of your creations into the microwave.

Meal Prep Ideas for a Healthy Breakfast Every Day

We scoured the web to come up with breakfast meal prep ideas that were at once particularly healthy and particularly easy to make.

  1. Sweet Potato Hash Egg Cups – There’s a reason why eggs are a breakfast staple, they are high in protein and keep you feeling full longer so you don’t pig out at lunch. Sweet potatoes add lots of fibre, vitamins and minerals.
  2. Peanut Butter Banana Protein Baked Oatmeal – Unless you are one of the unfortunate 1% of us with a peanut allergy, peanut butter is fairly good for you. It’s protein-packed and good for your heart. Bananas need not introduction as a potent source of potassium and other nutrients. Ditto oatmeal which delivers powerful antioxidants and lowers cholesterol. Best of all? You just mix it up in a sheet pan, bake and you’re done for the week.
  3. Black Bean Breakfast Burritos – You can let your creativity go with this one and turn into a veggie-packed delight. If you follow the recipe, count on lots of digestive-system-friendly fibre and nutrients to improve your blood cell production, energy levels and even your skin.
  4. Greek Yogurt and Your Favourite Fruit – Greek yogurt delivers lots of gut-friendly bacteria to help balance your pH levels. The fruit you choose gives it great flavour and great nutrition too.
